Thought I'd treat my hair

For the last month or so I've not really known what to do with my hair, I've had the same hairstyle for years now and in September I decided to get a full fringe. This was nice for a while as it was good to have change but I soon got bored of having to get it cut all the time and styling it every day. Without a full fringe fringe I can simply take my hair out of a bobble in a morning and consider it 'done'. So my hair was feeling a little worse for wear and at a loose end so I decided to treat it to some Lee Stafford hair treatment, seeing as it was 3 for 2 in Boots. After standing there for about half an hour I decided on these products:

1. Lee Stafford Hair Growth Treatment When I saw the description of this product: 'for hair that never grows past a certain length' I thought it was perfect for me. My hair is fairly long and I rarely get it cut, but it never seems to grow past the same length. Then when I get it cut, it grows back really quickly but never past the length it was before I got it cut. So anyway, this is a hair mask that you put on after shampoo. I loved how my hair felt after putting this on, it was so soft and tangle-free.

2. Lee Stafford Breaking Hair Shampoo I purchased this shampoo simply because of the name 'Breaking Hair'. I felt that my hair was 'breaking' in a sense and thought I'd try this out to bring some life back into it.

3. Lee Stafford Beach Babe Sea Salt Spray I've recently became obsessed with Sea Salt Spray since my sister bought me Charles Worthington Front Row Rough and Tousled Salt Spray for Christmas. Pretty much every day I tend to go for  a 'messy look'. In fact, I really don't like 'perfect' hair so it would be a very rare occasion to see me with really straight hair or it all tightly put up. I just love how it leaves a tousled and matte look. So, I thought I'd try a different salt spray. I tried the Lee Stafford spray out before I washed my hair. It's a lot different to the Charles Worthington. It's a lot heavier and kind of sticks to your hair, like a mouse or hairspray. It'd definitely be good for me on nights out or long days as I have quite thick hair. However the Charles Worthington is  more suited for casual looks that doesn't leave your hair feeling over-styled.

Gigs

One of my favourite things to do is go to gigs. There's nothing quite like it. I often go to local gigs (Doncaster/Sheffield) but also venture to cities such as Newcastle, Hull, Manchester, and of course Leeds. One of my recent trips was to Newcastle to see The Black Keys with support of The Maccabees at Metro Radio Arena. I saw The Black Keys at Leeds Festival 2012 and they were one of my favourite bands of the weekend. However I didn't get chance to see The Maccabees. I've been a big fan of them for years so I was really looking forward to them. I'm usually one for being at the front of gigs and getting involved, but as we had two separate gigs to travel too in different cities over the weekend we decided it'd be a quiet one. This meant I could take some photos/videos.

The Maccabees support was nothing more than lovely. Orlando Week's voice is so nice. It was a shame that a venue that is so big was only filled with less than half people for their set. Most who were only there waiting for the headlining act. Even though we weren't at the front of the arena, The Black Keys set seemed full of energy and everyone danced all the way through it. My favourite performed songs were, Howlin' For You, Gold On The Ceiling, Little Black Submarines, Lonely Boy, Everlasting Light and I Got Mine.

The next day was the Pulp gig at The Motorpoint Arena in Sheffield. I'd been looking forward for this for months and it was actually an 18th birthday present. I saw Pulp at Leeds Festival 2011 and I believed it'd be their last gig so when my boyfriend told me they were doing a homecoming show I was excited. Pulp are one of the best live bands I've ever seen, mainly because of how Jarvis Cocker gets involved with the audience. Between almost most songs he'd pause and talk to the audience for a while and get everyone laughing. Him and the rest of the band also threw out loads of rolls of toilet roll into the crowd and got everyone to spread it around because that's how they used to decorate their small stages when they first started out. They played a rather long 25 song set and I was tired from little sleep the night before but I really really enjoyed it. This was my last gig of 2012 and possibly my last until possibly around February. I've been to see many bands in the last three months and it's rinsed my overdraft so I guess a break will be for the best.

So I'm pretty new to blogging. I've had a Tumblr for as long as I can remember but mine doesn't actually hold a lot of writing. So I'm creating this blog to see how things go and if blogging is for me exactly. I haven't put a theme on this blog yet and I don't feel that I particularly have to. It shall be a blog of whatever pleases me.

My name is Becky Storey, I'm from Doncaster but am now currently living in Leeds. I'm studying Graphic Arts and Design at Leeds Met University.
